Time for some swashbuckling fun 'Treasure Island' picked as book to read locally

Yo-ho-ho and a bottle of rum!

Robert Louis Stevenson's "Treasure Island" has been chosen by All Pikes Peak Reads 2004 for this fall's communitywide reading event.

The group unveiled its selection Friday at the Penrose Library. A swashbuckling library assistant dressed in a royal purple pirate getup opened a wooden chest to reveal several editions of the book.

There will be much more of the same Sept. 26 through Oct. 17 as adults, kids and even the Air Force Academy freshmen delve into the 19th-century classic adventure of sailing ships, villainous pirates and buried treasure.
