James in TV bid to be the new Ewan McGregor Rising star lands lead role in remake of Stevenson's Kidnapped

A YOUNG actor tipped to be the next Ewan McGregor is the star of a major TV film shot in New Zealand.

James Pearson, from Glasgow, plays the young hero in an epic new take on Robert Louis Stevenson's Kidnapped, also starring Iain Glen and Gregor Fisher.

And at 23, James is the latest young Scot to be tipped for Hollywood stardom.

A BBC spokeswoman said:

"The producers of Kidnapped believe James has a really bright future ahead of him. He has real star quality and we believe he'll follow in the footsteps of Ewan McGregor and Robert Carlyle."
