THE favourite bar of Robert Louis Stevenson is set to be redeveloped after the council backed plans to change its interior.
The legendary novelist's fondness for Rutherford's, which is to become a two-storey gay bar, in the Southside, is commemorated on a plaque outside the Drummond Street bar.
But the old-fashioned pub will lose its historic name and the interior will be given a makeover, under plans drawn up by Franco Martone, the owner of well-known Italian restaurant Ciao Roma on South Bridge.
Mr Martone will be able to expand his restaurant and refurbish Rutherford's.
