Robert Barr, a retired Lynn police officer and owner of the former Shaw Catering Co., died Friday in Shaughnessy Rehabilitation Hospital in Salem. He was 72.
Born in Lynn, Mr. Barr was a lifelong resident of the city, graduating from Lynn English High School.
He was an Army World War II veteran who served as a sergeant in England, Africa and Italy. Named a reserve on the Lynn Police Department in 1950, Mr. Barr was appointed a regular in 1951.
