British Prime Minister Tony Blair arrived in Israel Thursday for talks with Israeli and Palestinian leaders, looking for a way to stop more than a year of violence and revive peace talks.

Palestinians were hoping for a strong statement of support from Blair during his visit. British officials have been speaking in public about the need for a Palestinian state.
