BELFAST, Northern Ireland (AP) _ Chris Patten, Britain's last governor of Hong Kong, has been asked to chair a commission to review Northern Ireland's police force.

``He has been approached. I can confirm that,'' said Alastair Campbell, spokesman for British Prime Minister Tony Blair. Mo Mowlam, the senior British official in Northern Ireland, said Patten had not responded but ``I would very much like him'' to take the job.
