Britain's health service was wrong when it refused to pay for a woman's treatment with the potentially lifesaving breast cancer drug Herceptin, the Court of Appeal ruled Wednesday.
Ann Marie Rogers, 54, who has early stage breast cancer, had challenged the decision that she did not qualify to be treated with the drug Herceptin.
The drug is not licensed for treating early stage breast cancer in England and Wales and is only authorized for use on patients in advanced stages of cancer.
