Instrument cases and outdoor clothes litter every available corner of the foyer area in Birmingham Conservatoire, even the bar (closed, one hastens to add).

Self-sacrificing parents kill time patiently and proudly and the coffee-lounge is doing a roaring trade.

But this is not the Conservatoire on any routine day in the life of the Music Faculty of the University of Central England, but every Saturday, when the Junior Conservatoire takes over.
