Having turned 40 in March, tenor Mark Padmore, who has made such an impact on the musical scene in recent years, describes himself as 'a late developer in some ways'.
As Padmore explains, he began life as a clarinettist, turning his attention to singing only with the award of a choral scholarship to King's College, Cambridge.
