According to one recent interview, the Argentinian composer Osvaldo Golijov has a problem with British music critics.

Apparently we have a "primitive, primal collective mentality" (now that is certainly worth discussing) and anoint composers before beheading them. We are "afraid of emotion, and get very uncomfortable."

One trusts he's not including The Birmingham Post in this, as we enthused mightily over his "Sound Investment" commission Last Round, premiered by Birmingham Contemporary Music Group under Stefan Asbury in October 1996. We ...
