Tarik O' Regan, riding the crest of a wave of success at still only 29 years old, almost didn't become a composer.
Best known for his choral music - the subject of his acclaimed debut CD Voices, released last year - he has also had pieces performed by the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the London Sinfonietta, He won the vocal category of the British Composer Award in 2005.
Yet his first job on leaving Oxford was with the investment bank, J P Morgan, in London.
