Sir Andrew Davis seems to have a gift for bringing Elgar rarities to life in the concert hall.
The conductor's most famous venture in this field was of course being entrusted with the premiere of Anthony Payne's miraculous realisation of the sketches Elgar left on his deathbed for a Third Symphony.
