Violinists Alina Pogostkina and Rimma Sushanskaya, both born in St Petersburg, will be performing in Birmingham within 24 hours of each other next week.
Sushanskaya is a well-known and popular figure in the West Midlands, having lived in Stratford-upon-Avon for many years (she also has homes in New York and Spain), and is a tutor on the staff of Birmingham Conservatoire. But the recital she gives in the Conservatoire's Adrian Boult Hall on Tuesday lunchtime will be her first here for four years. Why this long silence?
