As it approaches the 20th anniversary of its founding, Birmingham Contemporary Music Group launches its latest season on Saturday with a concert conducted by its newly-appointed artist-in-association, Oliver Knussen.
Knussen notoriously came to fame during the 1960s as an early-teens composing prodigy whose First Symphony was premiered by the London Symphony Orchestra, conducted by the composer himself when Istvan Kertesz, the LSO principal conductor, became indisposed.
