Saturday's premiere of Andrew Downes' Celtic Rhapsody by the Midland Youth Orchestra will be very much a family affair.
Singing the soprano solo in these orchestral settings of poems by Anon, Thomas Moore and W B Yeats is the composer's daughter Paula, while her sister Anna will be leading the orchestra. Paula, too, has led the orchestra in the past, and their grandfather, the wellknown horn-player Frank Downes, coached many of the MYO's brass players during the first decades of the MYO's near half-century of existence.
