Edna St. Vincent Millay stormed out of reading
Recently a reader called to ask about the Nomad Club in Dayton. She had been reading in a recently reissued book about a poetry reading given at the Nomad Club in Dayton in 1940.
I looked it up in Charlotte Reeve Conover's book Dayton, an Intimate History. She said that the Nomad Club was founded in 1927 by William G. Frizell and Charlotte Zwick and was meant for people who had traveled, to invite and listen to travelers of note, to induce and encourage travel and international friendship.
