Eadgar (bar), King of England, sends Æthelwold (ten) to win the Princess Ælfrida (sop) for him; Æthelwold marries her, sending word that she is ugly, but when Eadgar comes to visit them and finds how beautiful she is, Æthelwold kills himself in remorse.
