Christopher Marlowe's sprawling "Edward II" has found a niche in the past few years in adaptations that interpret it as the Elizabethan era's only overtly gay play - a story of how the love that dare not speak its name dared not speak it from the throne.

British artists, from actor Simon Russell Beale (who is playing Hamlet at the Wilbur) to filmmaker Derek Jarman, have taken this approach in recent productions, so it's not surprising to find it in the vest-pocket staging by Pet Brick ...
