The first text (the A Text) of the 1590 play dates from 1604 and has 1,517 lines: it is as near to what Marlow wrote as we can get. The second text (the B Text) dates from 1616 and includes an extra 600 lines written, at least in part, by William Bird and Samuel Rowley.
