IT MAY have been written more than 400 years ago but Christopher Marlowe's Dr Faustus can still pack a powerful punch.

No more so than in this new production in which Faustus is played as a modern day university lecturer, complete with corduroy jacket and spectacles.

This is an Exorcist-styled version which opens with lots of smoke, a library lined with thousands of ancient books and curious voices directed at Faustus.
