CHRISTOPHER Marlowe's drama of hubris and damnation starts out in the Minerva Studio, but soon abandons it for a procession through the shopping streets of Chichester to its cathedral.

It's a bold move, but the play's metaphysical crisis is rather scuppered by the cheery trappings of its journey.

The ambitious community performance involves professional actors, headed by Samuel West and Michael Feast as Faustus and Mephistopheles, over 100 amateur townspeople and no less than four directors: Steven Pimlott, Edward Kemp, Martin Duncan and Dale Rooks.
