Brief Summary Of Tamburlaine The Great: Part 1

Dramatic Characters

Mycetes: King of Persia, a weak ruler.

Cosroe: Brother to Mycetes; he seizes rule of Persia and the Eastern
Empire.

Ortygius:) All are Persian lords and captains and allies of Cosroe when
Meander: ) he seizes power.
Menaphon:)

Theridamas: Persian Lord who deserts Cosroe for Tamburlaine. Tamburlaine
crowns him King of Argier.

Tamburlaine: The central figure of the play. A bloody tyrant who rises
from a Scythian shepherd to become a powerful ruler. He is the Scourge of God.
