If it's true, as some people say, that ours is an unhappy country, it's because we are beginning to lose our sense of humor.
Finance Secretary Margarito Teves noted it when he read media reports about his resignation. According to him, he was only joking when at the end of a solemn speech on the economy, he announced that his job was done. But one mustn't think that the economic gains and prospects he cited were also one big joke.
