IT'S the VIP of the cartoon world and regularly ranks as Britain's all-time favourite animal tale.

Now, to mark the 40th anniversary of The Jungle Book, the Disney classic has been digitally re-mastered and is tipped to be a Christmas best seller after it was released on DVD yesterday.

However many of the species in the film now face a struggle for survival. Experts warn that if we don't start to protect endangered jungle animals like Baloo and Shere Khan, future generations will only be able to read of those magnificent animals in books.
