A CENTURY later, how wrong indeed was the prognostication and conclusion of Rudyard Kipling. If he were alive today to witness East Asia's rise to pre-eminence and economic hegemony, he would have been surprised beyond belief.

Like Kipling, don't believe everything that foreigners will tell you since they neither have the wisdom of ancient civilizations nor the inscrutability of the East.
