A prominent South Devon home which is said to have provided the inspiration for Rudyard Kipling's The House Surgeon is for sale.
Rock House in Rock House Lane at Maidencombe is a substantial, listed country house, set on the clifftop at Maidencombe with fine coastal views and with some 10 acres of grounds.
Kipling lived for a couple of years at Rock House around the turn of the 20th century, describing it as his dream home.
The house had been built in the middle of the 19th century with a servants' wing and new apartments added later, the detached coach house converted during the 1970s.
