RUDYARD KIPLING'S classic children's story, The Jungle Book, is proving to have as much life in it as the buzzing environment in which it is set.

Published over a century ago, the charming tale of a young boy raised in the Indian jungle by a family of wolves is coming to a stage near you from tonight in the first major stage production of the book.

The Birmingham Stage Company is nearing the end of its 10-month tour of the UK around Britain's major theatres, stopping off at the Theatre Royal for a week of performances.
