On March 13, The Washington Times ran a picture of first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton and Secretary of State Madeleine Albright marking International Women's Day ("Women preside on their day"). This day has a history.
It was established under the influence of the Russian Revolution of 1905 by Clara Tselkin, a leading German communist, at a conference in Copenhagen. After the seizure of power by the Bolsheviks in Russia, this day was proclaimed by the Central Committee of the Communist Party as International Women's Day.
