The Pope has described how Marxism included a 'fundamental error' which has resulted in a 'trail of appalling destruction'. Pope Benedict's second encyclical was recently released and describes how today's world was moulded by the French Revolution and the 1917 Russian Revolution. The papal letter highlights the impact of Marxism with its 'acute analysis' and 'precision'. The 76-page document, Spe Salvi ('Saved by Hope'), also outlines Karl Marx's failure as he 'showed precisely how to overthrow the existing order but did not say how matters should proceed thereafter.'
