"Es el canalla mas cobarde, brutal y miserable", escribió Karl Marx el 14 de febrero de 1858 en una furibunda misiva a su íntimo amigo Federico Engels, en la cual criticaba la actuación del prócer sudamericano Simón Bolívar y Ponte (1783-1830), al que calificó como "mito de la fantasía popular".
