The delightful new neighborhood restaurant Irving Mill, near Union Square East, is neither sleepy nor hollow. It's named for Washington Irving, and text from his "Legend of Sleepy Hollow'' is imprinted on banquettes in the roomy eatery done in tasteful urban rustic.
A 1,000-pound millstone separates the Tap Room, a buzzy bar and lounge area, from the main dining areas. A high, beamed ceiling, whitewashed walls, wrought-iron chandeliers, marble floors, bare wood tables and a zinc-topped bar are other visual notes.
