There are no really significant separate studies of Washington Square,
other than perhaps the Preface to the Dell Laurel Edition by R. P. Blackmur
previously cited. The key to further research on Washington Square, in the
opinion of the present author, lies in the study of the relation of that work
to the theme of vampirism, as discussed in the section on James's Morality,
above.
