Isabel was not concerned with the attitudes of others towards her choice
of Osmond, and her feelings for him were confirmed by his "admirable good
conduct." Osmond, himself, was very much pleased with his young lady.
Particularly he liked her intelligence, and "Madame Merle had made him a
