HE may have been in showbiz for more than half-a-century, but Tommy Steele reckons that his latest role is one of his best yet.

"Playing Dr Dolittle is probably the most enjoyable character I have played since Hans Christian Andersen," says Steele, whose credits include the hit West End musical Singin' In The Rain.

"The production is a typical Walt Disney experience - the story, songs and characters can be enjoyed by everyone, whether they are eight or 80. It really is just good old family entertainment."
