When I first visited the Hans Christian Andersen Museum in Odense, Denmark, what amazed me most was a display case containing intricate, whimsical, even startling paper cuttings created by Andersen. Most authors are only skilled with words, not art, while most artists struggle to find the right words. To my surprise, here was someone exceptionally gifted at both.
