HE wrote The Little Mermaid, The Snow Queen and many other popular tales. Alongside the Bible and Shakespeare, his works are the world's most translated.
He is, of course, Hans Christian Andersen. This year sees the 200th anniversary of his birth and his fellow Danes are inviting us all to the party.
Andersen's tales are known to many of us by way of the silver screen.
