For his latest work, Hans Christian Andersen, Kim Brandstrup has used an icon from his native Denmark. It was premiered in the Linbury Studio at Covent Garden where I saw it on 5 November. The subtitle is The anatomy of a storyteller and Brandstrup has cleverly woven elements of Andersen's stories with biographical details from the writer's life. Images were projected on to a gauze in front of the stage throughout to give another dimension to this multilayered work.
