Three-year-old Ricky Miles, a tin soldier for the day, enjoys a story read by Peter Fraemohs, dressed as children's writer Hans Christian Andersen. Tin soldiers rubbed shoulders with little mermaids and ugly ducklings as the Christchurch Scandinavian Club celebrated 200 years since the birth of Andersen. Up to 70 people dressed up as characters from the Danish author's fairytales at Landsdowne Community Centre in Cashmere on Saturday.
