Crown Prince Frederik made Chilean novelist Isabel Allende a goodwill ambassador for the upcoming Hans Christian Andersen bicentennial, presenting her with a gold pin and plate in a ceremony fit for a fairy tale.
"A prince, a real prince, has awarded me with a prize in a real fairy tale castle," Allende said, prompting laughter from the 200 guests gathered inside the ornate Knights' Hall at the Dutch Renaissance-era Rosenborg Castle, which dates back to 1606.
