Denmark's Princess Alexandra on Monday named Luisa Duran de Lagos, the Chilean first lady, as a goodwill ambassador for the upcoming Hans Christian Andersen bicentennial.
A diploma was given to Chilean President Ricardo Lagos on behalf of his wife, who is in convalescence following surgery on her trachea in October.
She was tapped to help increase the knowledge about Andersen in Chile and promote the 200th anniversary of the Danish writer's birth in 2005.
