Crown Prince Frederik, Denmark's future king, on Monday named retired Australian runner Cathy Freeman as a goodwill ambassador for the upcoming Hans Christian Andersen bicentennial.
"A gifted person and an international icon (Freeman) has become a role model for groups of people," Frederik said shortly before giving her a diploma with the honorary title, created to help promote the 200th anniversary in 2005 of Andersen's birth.
