Now-retired Australian athlete Cathy Freeman will be named a goodwill ambassador for the upcoming Hans Christian Andersen bicentennial during a ceremony next week, the organizers of the famed Danish author's jubilee in 2005 said Thursday.
Denmark's Crown Prince Frederik will give a diploma with the honorary title to the 400-meter Sydney gold medalist during a ceremony at Copenhagen's City Hall on Monday. The title was created to help promote the 200th anniversary of Andersen's birth.
