The International Board on Books for Young People (Ibby) celebrated the birthday of Hans Christian Andersen on 2 April 2004 with an International Children's Book Day.
Countries belonging to Ibby have celebrated the birhday of the famous children's author since 1967 with the aim of drawing attention to children's books and promoting a love of reading.
This year's event was sponsored by Greece with the theme of 'The Light of the Books', reports the New Zealand Herald.
