Franz Kafka could not have written a better script for The Trial of Judge Bork than that acted out in these two weeks of hearings on the confirmation of the Supreme Court nominee.

There sat Joe Biden presiding, a man who counterfeits emotion, steals the work of others, lies about his past. Sen. Biden worried that Judge Bork's behavior on the high court may not be predictable.

A few feet from Sen. Biden sat Ted Kennedy, hammering away at the nominee for his alleged disregard for the rights of women. One could almost conjure the ghost of Mary Jo Kopechne hovering overhead.
