Brief Outline:

Kafka's works consist of three major novels, The Trial, The Castle, and
Amerika; collections of short stories, including The Metamorphosis, The
Judgement, In the Penal Colony, The Country Doctor, and The Great Wall of
China; and a variety of miscellaneous works, the most important of which are
his Parables, Diaries, Letters to Milena, and Dearest Father. We shall proceed
to examine the most important of these works in some detail, beginning with
