TO ME, 1992 will go down as the year that finally drove a stake through the heart of F. Scott Fitzgerald's most famous - and most ludicrous - statement.
"There are no second acts in American lives," Fitzgerald wrote. It's a line with a nice ring to it, and it's been quoted at least a million times, despite the fact that it is completely untrue.
