PARIS The sale of the effects of M. Emile Zola to cover costs due to MM. Belhomme, Varinard, Couard, experts in handwriting, in connection with their libel suit against him, took place yesterday [Jan. 21]. M. Fasqualle and other friends of the novelist gathered at the house in the rue de Bruxelles. The first article offered for sale was a mirror framed in oak. Someone bid 50fr.75fr.100fr., and then M. Fasquelle cut in with 2,500fr., and the sale was over. He was applauded and there were many shouts of ''Vive Zola.''
