Aharon Harlap's Therese Raquin is an Israeli opera by an Israeli composer, based on a non-Israeli and non-Jewish text (Emile Zola's novel of the same name, adapted by Dana Gur). The premiere of this piece at the Israel Festival on Tuesday night marked a very welcome widening of Israel's operatic horizons.
