Ralph Waldo Emerson said the key to being a good teacher is to always show respect for the pupil.
If such is the case, some professors at Weber State University need to brush up on their Emerson. They seem to have little regard for their pupils. They think students there are unable to make judgments about a professor's competence, character and point of view. They feel they should be shielded from any form of public accountability.
It's an ivory tower mentality. The academicians see themselves as above the fray.
The truth, however, is they are causing the fray.
