Edith Nesbit's classic The Railway Children comes to the Everyman, Cheltenham, from Tuesday.

A kids' favourite since it was published in 1906, it was also made into a popular film, starring Bernard Cribbins and Jenny Agutter, in 1970.

When their father is falsely imprisoned for treason, Bobbie, Phyllis, Peter and their mother are forced to leave their comfortable London home for a new life in the country. They soon settle and begin to enjoy their new found freedom, frequenting the nearby railway station and making friends with Perks the Porter, a kindly old gentleman, and his cat, a desperate ...
